Gratitude is Who You Truly Are

November 26, 2025 by Nicola Walker

woman looking peaceful and grateful with hot drink in mugIf you want a quick reset, look for what you’re grateful for. Gratitude feels so good because gratitude is who you truly are. It helps you to open to life, rather than resist or judge it…

We all feel grateful when something wonderful happens, or when what we were dreading doesn’t happen after all. Gratitude is usually the last thing on our mind when the shit hits the fan. Our mental preoccupations and thought spinning brains lure us in and keep us  glued just like endless TV. Gratitude becomes a forgotten practice tucked away with pretty journals, crystals and aromatherapy oils.

I used to be that way, but I have become increasingly grateful for the power of gratitude. Gratitude can often be like a magic wand, transforming my energetic state and wiping the windows of my eyes, so I see beauty and notice what is good in my life. Drop Deeper to Find Your Truth

September 24, 2025 by Nicola Walker

Meditative lake scene with small pile of flat stones at sunsetEnthusiasm can wane. What once excited you, may not necessarily continue to do so. Your big yes can suddenly feel like a strain. What to make of this sudden change that goes against all plans and expectations? It’s time to drop deeper to find your truth.

I sometimes feel deeply humbled by life’s waves of change. Which way now? Do I still go ahead with my plan because that’s what I planned?

Whenever I have made myself stick with the program, despite nagging concerns, I just prolonged the inevitable. In the end, whether it was a job, a client, a creative idea or relationship, my misgivings turned out to be well-founded.

It turned out it would have been better to acknowledge that something wasn’t feeling right and listen deeper to the messages I was getting from my intuitive guidance.

All the same, just because you are suddenly feeling weary or tense about what once felt so compelling, doesn’t mean to say that it’s the wrong choice. You just want to check in with yourself.

In some cases, it can be that our fears are masquerading as intuition. Feeling jittery, focusing on situations that didn’t turn out well in the past or your own perceived inadequacies show that you are listening to your mind, rather than your wise self.

The first thing to do is hit the pause button.

You Can Experience Miracles Every Day

September 10, 2025 by Nicola Walker

Close up of white flouncy petaled flower with yellow center. A playful quality.Miracles happen. Slow down the giddy pace of constant thinking and busyness. Breathe fully into the present moment with nowhere to be except now. Let time stop still and open your awareness to see differently from usual. You can experience miracles every day.

A miracle is “a shift in perception”, as Marianne Williamson says referring to A Course in Miracles.

Your First Step Towards Joy

August 13, 2025 by Nicola Walker

hands full of pastel colored rose petals

Joy is such a high emotion that many people think of it as belonging in the realm of shooting stars and giddy heights such as falling love or winning the lottery. Your first step towards joy is willingness to experience it, despite circumstances and conditions.

For a deeply spiritual friend of mine, joy wasn’t her word. Highs for her are peace, connection and contentment. Her traumatic childhood has made it harder for her to be fully in her body and soar into ecstatic heights of bliss.

Yet, this same friend dissolves into smiles and joyful laughter when she sees cute kids. Captivated, she often walks up to the parent, with exclamations of delight.

Could it be that we sometimes miss our moments of joy because our mind has ruled out the possibility of experiencing it?

Feeling rushed: How to slow down and find your natural pace in work and life

September 14, 2017 by Nicola Walker

Swan in still water, with reflection, the opposite of feeling rushedDo you sometimes feel like your time is not your own? From the moment you wake, you are feeling rushed by your agenda full of everything you have to attend to, racing you through the minutes and the hours until you look at the clock in amazement and dismay. What happened? You long to fit in yoga, meditation, reflection time with your journal, or a run in the park, yet once again your day ran away from you.

Whether you work on-site at a job or work from home with a job or your own business, it’s important to find your rhythm for doing your work and taking care of your body and soul. Some people are fast-paced and others are more slow-paced. Whatever type you are, if you consistently overstretch your limit of what you can comfortably do, you may either burn out, or experience physical and emotional symptoms indicating that you’re out of balance.

Fast-paced people may find that they don’t notice the warning signs when they are piling on too much and starting to burn out. Slow-paced people can often push themselves so they can keep up with other people’s standards for productivity while judging themselves for being the way they are. Eventually, if you keep pushing yourself and feel rushed a lot of the time, you get so out of sync with yourself that you get tired, sick or even injure yourself. Often people injure ankles and knees, which are about fear of moving forward. Or, they have back or shoulder pain from carrying too much on their shoulders.

Slow down and move at your natural pace rather than letting the world dictate your pace. [Read more…] about Feeling rushed: How to slow down and find your natural pace in work and life
