Imagine you’re on an unfamiliar beach, gazing out at the waves gently rolling in onto the shore. You’re wondering whether it’s safe to swim. What if there are undercurrents that could sweep you out to sea or drag you under? Navigating fears and doubts are like those unseen undercurrents, lurking beneath the surface of your dreams and goals.
You can ignore them and swim anyway, but your unconscious mind has the power to drag you down or hold you back.
You have to develop the mind awareness and intuitive discernment to spot that you have undercurrents rippling through you like waves of resistance.
How can you have fears and doubts when you are following your heart?
It’s an all too human paradox.
The fears you are experiencing are not usually the kind that make you break out in a sweat and shake. You might not even realize you are experiencing fears and doubts. You just find it hard to act on your intentions. Often, you waver and distract yourself, spinning your wheels as you face the same view of yourself and your life each day.
Sound familiar?
What your deepest desires and goals want is simple — you.
They want that vibrantly inspired, unique mind and spirt, your heart, your soul, their Source, their guide, their steward.
Every day, we wake up from the dark, emptiness of night, the drift away to other worlds, and it can take a few moments for all the pieces of our life to fly back into our mind’s eye. As we plug back into meaning, we have to pick up where we left off or begin from a better place than before. We seize the baton from yesterday’s self and take it further, towards the destiny we are creating.
We can’t drop the baton and let it get swept away by fears and doubts. In the world of emotional experiences, this one sucks. Giving up is not an option, even though we try to convince ourselves that maybe it wouldn’t matter.
Instead, navigating our fears and doubts reenergizes our passion and sense of purpose.
Life is a voyage we opt to sail, even through stormy seas, rather than cling to the illusion of a safe harbor. We only have so much time to brave uncharted waters and discover new lands. The better we get at navigating fears and doubts, the sooner we can feel the thrill of accomplishment and fulfillment.
Your level of inspiration is key. When you feel the bright waves of inspiration surge through you, follow your big yes. If yesterday’s inspiration is met with today’s indecision and misty feelings of blah, don’t be fooled into changing your mind. Get curious. Investigate and inquire into your thoughts and feelings.
Fears and doubts are like children. They need to be re-inspired, to remember the voyage they are sailing and discover their enthusiasm again. They need a captain who will calm their fears and assuage their doubts. Once they are excited, they integrate into one, passionately focused, whole you.
Navigating fears and doubts are part of steering your life. Once you get good at it, you can feel the wind in your sails, the fresh, invigorating air in your lungs and the call of your heart at the helm of your boat.
